Old friends, new paths – Officine Fioravanti meets Alfa Romeo 8C 35

It is one of the deepest human emotions to meet an old friend again. Not only because memories return, but because the encounter with the past often also provides a quiet orientation for the future. In a world that is constantly changing, such moments provide stability they remind us of values that endure beyond time and change.

A similar moment of reunion is currently taking place in the world of classic cars: the newly interpreted 8C M from Officine Fioravanti meets the historic Alfa Romeo 8C 35 from 1935 – two vehicles from different eras, but with the same origins and spirit.

The original 8C 35 is a milestone in pre-war motorsport history. Developed by Alfa Romeo under the technical direction of Vittorio Jano, the vehicle was a symbol of engineering skill and racing ambition in the 1930s. The example shown here has been restored with the utmost care by the renowned Atelier Toppino. The workshop stands for authentic restoration of classic vehicles – with a demand for precision that takes even the smallest details seriously. The paintwork, materials and technical components have been faithfully restored to their original state.

… a symbol of engineering skill and racing ambition in the 1930s.

Officine Fioravanti provides a deliberate contrast to this with the 8C M. The young company specializes in the modern interpretation of classic sports cars. For the 8C M, the historic 8C 35 – in particular the vehicle of Argentinian racing driver Carlos Arzani – serves as a stylistic source of inspiration. The new paintwork of the 8C M quotes Arzani’s former racing car look without copying the technology of the original. Instead, the 8C M is based on contemporary materials, a revised vehicle architecture and adapted proportions.

The approaches of the two players differ fundamentally: while Toppino Atelier preserves the original condition of the historic vehicle, Officine Fioravanti sees its work as a creative dialog with the past. The technical solutions of the 8C M are modern, the design language has been deliberately developed further – but the historical reference remains visible.

Despite the differences in philosophy and implementation, both vehicles share a common basis: the idea of the 8C as an expression of automotive passion, driving ambition and design clarity. The 8C was never just a car – it was always an attitude. And it is precisely this attitude that is carried forward today in two different ways.

This encounter shows that an automobile can be more than just an object of daily use. It can be a carrier of memories, a projection screen, a source of inspiration for new ideas. The restored 8C 35 preserves history. The 8C M continues it. For connoisseurs of classic vehicles, this encounter is not just a visual experience, but an expression of continuity. It shows how values such as precision, passion and design quality have been maintained over generations – and how they continue to take on new forms.
