RUF Goldfinger 3.4
The small German car manufacturer RUF is celebrating a nice anniversary this year. In 1939, 80 years ago, Alois Ruf senior founded Auto-Ruf as a car repair shop in Pfaffenhausen/Germany. After World War 2, the offer was supplemented by a petrol station and a bus company. In the 1960s, a Porsche 356 rolled into the workshop for the first time and fascinated the son of the founder, Alois Ruf junior, so much that he shifted his main attraction to refining cars from Zuffenhausen. In 1975 he presented the very first RUF Turbo. Since then, various other modified 911s and then own creations have followed, such as the BTR, the CTR ‘Yellowbird’, the CTR2 or the mid-engined CTR3. Just in time for the 80th anniversary, the production version of the CTR Anniversary with carbon chassis and body, limited to 50 units, was presented in Geneva.
But RUF not only cares about powerful new vehicles, but also offers customization kits to customers with older Porsche models. One possibility is the nowadays very popular category of restomods, in which 911 models are visually upgraded to older model years. In Geneva they presented one of those. On behalf of a customer a Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 was modified into the RUF Goldfinger 3.4, which clearly aims at the villain of the eponymous James Bond movie. Like his Rolls-Royce, the body of this sports car wears a bright golden paint, which is also used on the Fuchs wheels. While other restomod 911s are based on the 964 or 993 series and try to visually bring back the F series, the new owner of the Goldfinger ordered the widebody looks of the 911 Carrera RS 3.0 with oil-cooler air inlet at the front and wider fenders – but without the ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler.

Inside, the RUF Goldfinger received classic sports seats with center panels in Pepita fabric and cheeks in black leather. All leather areas, also on the dashboard and on the steering wheel received gold-colored stitching. In keeping with the newly built engine in the rear, there are also new round instruments with RUF logos behind the steering wheel. RUF increased the displacement of the six-cylinder boxer engine to 3.4 liters, which increased the power to 250 hp. There are no statements about the price of this conversion.
