Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Grand Prix

When thinking about the Bugatti brand and the corresponding hypercars, many things come to mind. However, not offering enough customization options isn’t one of them. Normally, the factory in Molsheim, Alsace, allows anything that customers can imagine, as long as these wishes don’t violate licensing regulations. Nevertheless, Bugatti is now launching the new “Sur Mesure” program, which is intended to cater even more closely to individualization requests. Translated, this name means “tailor-made”. The designers and engineers summarize their core competencies here. Projects such as the recently presented Divo Lady Bug or the 2019 Chiron Zebra 1 of 1 will run through this program in the future.

Sur Mesure’s first project is a Chiron Pur Sport inspired by the racing successes of Louis Chiron. One of his many racing victories came behind the wheel of a light blue-painted Bugatti Type 51 with the painted-on race number 32 at the 1931 French Grand Prix. Back then it was still possible to share the race distance with another driver. Therefore, the victory officially went to Chiron and his colleague Achille Varzi. Based on the colors of the winning car, Bugatti now created two new paint colors for a modern Chiron Pur Sport. It also got a pattern running across the body with the initials of the company founder Ettore Bugatti. These are applied by hand, as were the starting numbers on the doors. Inside, both the 32 and the EB logo can be found again. There are “Grand Prix” badges on the door sills and in the footwell.
