Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean

To mark the market launch of the Flying Spur Hybrid, Bentley is presenting the limited Odyssean Edition. This special edition model transports elements of the EXP 100 GT concept car into series production for the first time. The main focus here is on more sustainable materials for the interior as part of the Beyond100 strategy. Its power source is a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine combined with an electric motor. The latter is 100 kW (136 hp) strong, sits between the combustion engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and gets its power from a 14.1-kWh battery pack. In purely electric mode, a WLTP range of over 25 miles is possible. Bentley specifies 400 kW/544 hp and 750 Nm of torque as the system output, which is sufficient for a topspeed of 177 mph. In hybrid mode the range increases to 435 miles.

Sustainable interior

Inside, some panels showcase tweed upholstery fabrics made from 100-percent British wool. There are also wood veneer trim panels made of open-pore koa wood with 90 percent less clear coat than other high-gloss trim. In total, only three layers of clear lacquer are used, with a total thickness of 0.1 millimeters. Narrow veneer strips in black piano lacquer sit at the lower edge of these wood trim parts. For the Flying Spur Hybrid, Bentley is also launching a three-tone leather interior made from sustainable leather. The inspiration for this was a 1955 S1 Flying Spur from the factory collection, which still wears its original leather interior. While accents are finished in the “Autumn” hue, customers have a choice of five specifications, “Beluga”, “Porpoise”, “Cricketball”, “Brunel” or “Burnt Oak”, each in combination with light linen leather and special embroidery design. The special edition model features “Odyssean Edition” lettering on the D-pillars and door sill panels.

Extensive special model equipment

On the outside, the second plug-in hybrid model in the brand’s history receives accents on the lower body area and the 21-inch wheels in the “Pale Brodgar” color. This includes the front and rear bumpers, headlight and taillight surrounds, and the otherwise chrom trim above the sills. To match, Bentley’s design team put together a selection of six paint colors from which customers can choose. Standard equipment for the special edition model also includes the Touring Specification with various driver assistance systems, an illuminated Flying B logo on the radiator grille, a leather headliner, LED welcome lights in the doors and ambient lighting.
