TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf
50 years ago, for the first time a racing car in the legendary Gulf Oil colors won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a Ford GT40 from the racing team of John Wyer with Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi at the wheel, which crossed the finish line in the light blue paint with orange stripe. To mark the 50th anniversary of this victory, Swiss watch manufacturer TAG Heuer presented the new special edition wristwatch Formula 1 Gulf during this years Le Mans.
This special watch cleverly picks up the colors of the oil brand, complemented by dark blue. In spite of this play of colors, it is by no means visually intrusive and can therefore be worn without problems even in normal office life. The case has a diameter of 43 millimeters, is made of stainless steel and has a quartz chronograph and a grooved steel bezel. On the outside runs an aluminium ring with tachymeter scale. There is also a stopwatch function with analogue display of tenths of a second. For particularly high wearing comfort, the leather bracelet shows itself in dark blue with decorative orange stitching.
To mark the anniversary, the watch manufacturer also presented the limited edition Monaco Gulf, of which only 50 pieces will be sold worldwide. It shows the famous square casing with 39 millimeters edge length, receives a petrol blue dial with stripes in Gulf colors and on the back of the case an exclusive engraving with limited edition number.
