Omologato Monza

Every major racetrack in the world nowadays has an ‘Official Timepiece Partner’, which is a watch manufacturer that offers wristwatches with the individual official logo of the track in question. Recently, the British watchmaker Omologato has concluded such a long-term cooperation agreement with the famous Formula 1 circuit in Monza, Italy. This event was also used to directly create a chronograph that reflects this partnership not only by the logo, but also by using matching colors.

At the lower dial the wristwatch shows the official Monza logo. Add to that the case in smoked metal, that symbolizes the colors of a racing car’s exhaust after a gruelling race and a leather bracelet in traditional Monza Blue. In addition to the time and a date display, the Monza chronograph also features a stopwatch and is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. Omologato will only create 500 copies of it for a price of 349 GBP each.

Monza as a venue for car racing events looks back to a history beginning in September 1922, when the track officially opened. Worldwide, the Italians had the third-ever permanent paved racetrack after Brooklands in Great Britain and Indianapolis, USA. Since then, the route has been adapted several times to the taste of time, but never abandoned  its high-speed character. All the great names of Grand Prix racing have been here, including Juan Manuel Fangio, Alberto Ascari, Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen. At the beginning of September, the next Grand Prix of Italy will be held at this traditional race course.
