Gemballa Hypercar

Gemballa from Leonberg has been known for almost 40 years for the tuning of high-quality cars, mainly from Porsche. Under the direction of company founder Uwe Gemballa, one-off cars and small series were created. Most recently he designed the Mirage GT based on the Porsche Carrera GT and the MIG-U1 based on the Ferrari Enzo. In 2010, however, he was murdered in South Africa, whereupon his company was sold to the investor Steffen Korbach by an insolvency administrator. Korbach expanded the product portfolio with parts for McLaren sports cars. Now Gemballa GmbH ventures into a new field and develops an independent supersports car.

Managing Director Steffen Korbach attaches particular importance to developing one of the last genuine sports cars without a hybrid drivetrain. Nevertheless, the Hypercar project should accelerate to 100 kph (62 mph) in less than 2.5 seconds and to 200 kph (124 mph) in around 6.5 seconds. It may even be possible that Gemballa will offer it with a manual transmission. Later variants could also come with hybrid technology or even pure electric drive. In order to be able to cope with this enormous project, Gemballa opened a fundraising process in which the first investors have already paid in large sums. A prototype of the Hypercar is to be presented at the beginning of 2020.
