DP Motorsport 911 The Speedy Irishman
For decades dp Motorsport in Overrath/Germany has been creating unusual Porsche-based conversions. The latest trend are so-called ‘backdatings’, this means 911s which look older than their year of construction actually says. Not that dp would artificially age the cars with scratches or even rust, but 911 series like the 964 are visually changed into the design of the G-Series or even F-Series models. In the meantime, dp Motorsport customers have a wide choice from narrow bodies up to widebody RSR replicas with duck tail spoiler. Whether they deliver their own base car or let dp search for a suitable one is up to the customers.
The latest project is nicknamed ‘The Speedy Irishman’, which can be attributed to the paint in the color Irish Green. It is based on a Porsche 964 Carrera 2, which in addition to the optical retrofit to F-Series design also received a widebody with 25 millimeters per side. This kit consists of carbon and kevlar reinforced plastics. The widened wheel arches are filled out with forged Fuchs rims, which are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires in 225/45-17 at the front axle and 255/40-17 at the rear axle.

Inside, ‘The Speedy Irishman’ sports Recaro seats, covered on the outside in brown leather and inside with pepita fabric. While the vast majority of the door panels and a strip on the dashboard are covered with brown leather, the rest of these components as well as the rim of the Momo Prototipo steering wheel are covered in black Alcantara. Beige bouclé carpets can be found in the footwell and in the rear. Multilayer glued wood gives the gear knob a sporty look, reminiscent of the legendary Porsche 917. For music and orientation in a foreign environment a navigation radio from Porsche Classic is mounted inside the dashboard, including Bluetooth and USB.
Thanks to a clubsport suspension kit from KW, Unibal strut bearing and PU sockets at the front axle as well as Unibal bearings at the rear axle, the car gets a sporty tuning. To match this, dp Motorsport has enlarged the six-cylinder boxer engine to 3.8 liters and increased the power to 325 hp, which are applied to the rear wheels via a G50-five-speed manual gearbox and a RS differential lock. dp Motorsport asks 198,000 euros for ‘The Speedy Irishman’.
