Audi R8 V10 Performance RWD
Do you like sports cars with classic rear-wheel drive? Then you could probably be enthusiastic about the Audi R8 RWD. Now Audi Sport is presenting the Coupé and Spyder in the new Performance version. At the manufacturer with the four rings logo, this name suffix stands for extra performance and sporty equipment. It is already familiar from the R8 V10 Performance quattro. As the R8 V10 Performance RWD, the mid-engine sports car from Neckarsulm gets a power increase of the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine by 30 to now 570 hp (419 kW). Torque also increases by ten to 550 Nm. A seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox is available for power transmission. This takes the car in 3.7 seconds to 62 mph and on to a topspeed of 204 mph (Spyder: 3.8 seconds and 203 mph). Audi Sport takes the rear-wheel drive with mechanical limited-slip differential for the R8 RWD from the GT3 racing version.
Controlled drifts possible
To match the rear-wheel drive concept, the engineers fine-tuned both the chassis and the driving dynamics systems. Great importance was attached to configuring the Sport mode of the Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC) so that controlled drifts are possible. For better feedback and more precise response, dynamic steering is available for the first time in the rear-wheel-drive R8. Audi Sport manufactures the space frame of the R8 V10 Performance RWD entirely from aluminium at the “Böllinger Höfe” manufactory. Body parts made of aluminium and carbon fiber extend above it. The curb weight is 1,590 kilograms for the Coupé and 1,695 kilograms for the Spyder. Behind the wheels sits either and 18-inch steel brake system or a ceramic brake with 19-inch brake discs.

Matt black single-frame grille
The single-frame radiator grille in matte black is a distinctive visual feature compared with the rest of the R8 model family. A total of ten paint colors are available for the body. These include “Ascari Blue metallic”, a color previously reserved exclusively for the R8 V10 Performance quattro. The interior benefits optionally from the ‘R8 Performance Design Package’ with black Alcantara leather, mercato blue stitching and bare carbon decor elements. In addition, further leather and stitching colors are available. When the order books open for the R8 V10 Performance RWD on October 21, the base price in Germany for the Coupé will be € 149,000. For the Spyder, a minimum of € 162,000 will have to be paid.
