Aston Martin V12 Zagato Heritage Twins

Update at the end of this article. Here follows our original text from 23 April 2019:

Actually, Aston Martin is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Italian coachbuilder Zagato, with whom they have been cooperating again and again since the 1960s, with the limited edition of 19 copies of the Centenary Collection. But now, AF Racing AG’s new subsidiary R-Reforged from Switzerland has come up with two designs for a limited edition of the Heritage Twins based on the old Vantage with V12 engine. As a Coupé, this vehicle has been available from Zagato before, but now also an open Roadster variant is offered. However, the new Coupé version of this Heritage edition differs in some details from the factory car that was built from 2011 to 2012.

The 19 copies of the Heritage Twins show neither a fixed rear wing nor the large front splitter. R-Reforged follows the rather elegant approach with these vehicles and at the same time they don’t want to annoy owners of the original V12 Vantage Zagato. Especially in the Roadster variant, they succeed without a doubt, as this body shape wasn’t previously offered. But the Coupé can convince with its visual appearance as well.

R-Reforged has received official licenses from Aston Martin and Zagato to build 19 copies each of the open and closed variants of the Heritage Twins. This production takes place at Vynamic GmbH, another subsidiary of AF Racing AG. First deliveries are expected to arrive with their new owners in Q4 2019. No information has yet been provided on the prices. Customers can only buy both body versions together, not one of them separetely.

Update
After these two special edition models were announced by R-Reforged almost exactly one year ago, technical data and further information are now announced. Actually the production of these cars should happen in Germany, as described in our original report. In the meantime, R-Reforged has built up its own factory in Warwick, UK, which will now take over the manual assembly of the Vantage V12 Zagato Heritage Twins. It remains that a total of 19 customers will receive these vehicles as pairs (Coupé and Speedster), the majority of which have already been sold. New are golden Zagato logos on the occasion of the company’s 100th anniversary which already took place last year.

The six-liter V12 engine under the bonnet will receive some modifications, increasing its output to 600 hp. The new bodies are made entirely of carbon fibre. Active aerodynamic elements such as the rear spoiler, which extends at higher speeds, ensure sufficient downforce. The wheel arches are fitted with newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels with central locking systems. Customers who have made a deposit will receive an exclusive gift box soon afterwards. Together with the designers from Aston Martin St. Gallen (Switzerland), the individual design of the two vehicles will then be started. Almost infinite color palettes for body and interior are available. As soon as production begins in Warwick, there will be an opportunity to look over the shoulders of the employees there to experience all processes live.

The first two copies were designed by Marella Rivolta Zagato, wife of Andrea Zagato, the current CEO of Zagato. She chose two different paint colors to illustrate both the past and future of the coachbuilding company: gold and platinum. The Speedster was given the exterior color ‘Oro Angelica’, inspired by Zagato’s first 100 years and the plant Angelica. Meanwhile, the Coupé is adorned with the futuristic paint color ‘Platino Acanto’, which Mrs. Zagato chose because of the rustproof and yet highly catalytic effects of the platinum metal. The color name refers to the acanthus plants, whose shape inspired the ancient Greeks to create the Corinthian column chapters. These two cars are scheduled for completion in the summer, while the first customer cars are not expected to follow until the fourth quarter. Work on the Aston Martin Vanquish 25 by Callum will also begin this year in the same manufactory.
