Porsche 911 Turbo S

The Turbo S is the crowning glory of the respective Porsche 911 series. However, only die-hard brand fans know the very first model generation. At the end of the production period of the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3, internally called 930, only ten examples of the Turbo S were built. Accordingly, these vehicles are rarely on offer today. The new vehicles were only available from the French Porsche dealer Sonauto. All ten vehicles were painted black and came with extensive standard equipment as well as a power increase from 300 to 330 hp.

History of the 911 Turbo

After Porsche had begun experimenting with turbocharging in the late 1960s in motorsport, the launch of the 911 Turbo (930) followed in 1975. Compared with the normal 911s, this increased power by around 80 hp, which was then transmitted via a four-speed gearbox. At the same time, a large rear spoiler and fenders widened by 12 centimeters provided a sportier look. Three years later, the 911 Turbo 3.3 appeared, with displacement increased from 3.0 to 3.3 liters. This also led to an increase in power output from 260 to 300 hp. This power was now transmitted to the rear axle via a five-speed transmission. When the new 911 (964) was launched in 1989, the production period of the first 911 Turbo came to an end. Prior to this, Sonauto ordered the ten Turbo S units in question from Porsche Exclusive.

Number 8 arrived in Japan

Although the ten Porsche 911 Turbo S were intended only for the French market, they gradually made their way to collectors all over the world. These cars can be recognized by a special front spoiler, black leather upholstery with colored stripes on the 959’s sports seats, and a numbered badge above the glove compartment. Less obvious is the lowering due to the sports suspension. At the Japanese auction house BH Auction, the 911 Turbo S number 08/10 will soon be up for sale. Its speedometer shows just 11,054 kilometers of mileage. No details have yet been given on the price
