Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S One of a Kind

50 years ago, Mexican racing driver Pedro Rodríguez died at the wheel of a race car at the Norisring in Nuremberg, Germany. He is still one of the best-known and most successful racing drivers from Mexico. In addition to sports car racing, he also raced in Formula 1, where he won two Grand Prix races. Next to that, he won the 24 Hours of Daytona four times and once the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Eleven times he helped the respective manufacturer for which he drove to the manufacturers’ world championship title. Two of these titles went to the John Wyer team with main sponsor Gulf and the Porsche 917K as its car of choice. In order to create a worthy automotive monument to this racing hero, Porsche Latin America, together with Porsche Mexico, commissioned the Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen to create a one-off vehicle. This is based on the current Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S and has been given the nickname “One of a Kind”.

The presentation ceremony for the one-off took place at the Sportscar Together Day at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Pegaso in Mexico City. To recall the legendary 917K, the body was painted in Gulf blue with a central stripe in orange and painted-on racing number fields with the number 2. As a contrast, black-painted wheels with aluminium-colored center caps are used. Badges with the silhouette of a 917 and the signature of Pedro Rodríguez can be found on the B-pillars and on the door sill panels. Below the rear spoiler, the eight races won by Rodríguez in the 917K are engraved. Inside, graphite blue leather and orange stitching await the occupants. Later this year, the one-off vehicle is to be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to various charitable causes.
