Pashley Cycles & Morgan

Morgan should be a household name for car fans without a doubt, especially if you are interested in sporty-rustic Roadster from the UK. Together with the island’s longest established bicycle brand – Pashley, founded in 1926 – the result is a joint line of two-wheeled vehicles, starting with two handcrafted models. They are handmade by Pashley at their factory in Stratford-upon-Avon. Both bicycles will be shown at this weekend’s ‘Thrill on the Hill’ event, which is organized annually by Morgan for customers and friends.

For the handmade frame, made of Reynolds 631 steel tubes, Pashley uses a new curved top tube design. Below sits a frame-mounted race plate with the modelname as race number. So for the Pashley-Morgan 3 it wears a yellow 3 that sets off nicely from the British Racing Green of the frame. The Brooks B17 saddle and handlebar grips wear brown handstitched leather. Above the wheels sit short fenders made of laminated walnut wood. The same material is also used for a small chain guard next to the pedals. A three-speed gearbox is integrated into the rear wheelhub and provides enough variability in speed. On the front wheel sits a Sturmey Archer dynamo, which generates electricity for the classically designed front lamp above the wheel. In the UK the pricelist for the Pashley-Morgan 3 starts at 1,495 GBP.

In addition to the green 3, Pashley together with Morgan also offers the Light Pearl Grey Pashley-Morgan 8. Again, the entire livery is inspired by classic Morgan racing cars. The driver’s hands caress hand-sewn handlebar grips in black leather with aluminium end caps reminiscent of dashboard controls. The handlebar sits much lower than on the 3. A Brooks Black Cambium C15 saddle made from vulcanized rubber and covered with an organic cotton surface. Black ash wood is used for the short fenders and the chain guard. Similar to the designation, the Pashley-Morgan 8 gets a Shimano hub gearbox with eight gears. Also the dynamo is made by Shimano. The price of this handcrafted bike is 1,595 GBP.

Both bikes are offered directly through Morgan’s worldwide dealer network.
