Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition

It may be hard to believe when you see the ever faster and faster model changes of some manufacturers, but there are still a few vehicles which are produced for a really long time. The Nissan 370Z as the current representative of the famous Z-series from Japan is a good example. Did you know that the first copies were already produced back in 2008? Nissan is now bringing an exclusive special edition model to the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The 50th Anniversary Edition commemorates the world premiere of the now legendary 240Z, which debuted back in 1969 under the Datsun label also in New York. For the design of this special edition they did a homage to a racing version of the Brock Racing Enterprises (BRE) team 240Z, with which the driver John Morton won several SCCA titles from 1970.

As a tribute, the 50th Anniversary Edition shows itself in a similar two-tone look as the racing car with the start number 46. However, Nissan gives customers the choice between white basecoat with red accents or silver paint with black contrasts. In both cases, the lower part of the bodywork as well as the roof show the respective base color, while hood, trunklid, exterior mirrors, roof lines and the exclusive stripe design on the sides show the contrast color. In addition, there are 19-inch alloy wheels in black with polished spokes and red rim rings. Around the Z-logos on the front fenders are laurel stickers and ’50th’ lettering, while a special ’50th Anniversary’ logo can be found below the model name at the back of the car.

Inside, the Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition features a sports steering wheel, which is partly covered in Alcantara, with red zero markings and heated, four-way electrically adjustable sports seats. These are upholstered in black leather and show colored stitching and piping as well as a perforated center part with colored backing. On the backrest, the perforated leather shows a printed Z-logo including the laurel wreath, while on shoulder heigt the ’50th Anniversary’ lettering is imprinted. Synthetic suede on the door panels and dark chrome accents complete the interior of this special edition model. The extensive standard equipment includes xenon headlights and a Bose audio system with eight speakers and active noise reduction.

Like all Nissan 370Z the 50th Anniversary Edition is powered by a 3.7-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine with 241 kW/328 hp and 363 newtonmeters of torque. These are transmitted to the rear wheels either via a manual six-speed or a seven-speed automatic gearbox, both equipped with SynchroRev Match (automatic adjustment of the engine and gearbox speeds while shifting). Together with Bridgestone Nissan developed suitable Potenza S007 tires for this sports coupé. At the moment there is no information about prices and limitation numbers of the 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition.
