Lego surprises the fans of brick models and iconic cars with the presentation of another model in the rough scale of 1:18. Normally, the Danish brand presents only one such model to assemble per year. For example, there was already, the Volkswagen T1, the classic Mini, the Ferrari F40, the London double-decker bus, James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 or the Ford Mustang. This year saw the debut of the classic Porsche 911, which can be built either as a Targa or Turbo. Accordingly, all fans expected another addition to this category in spring 2022 at the earliest. Apparently, however, Lego is increasing the pace, possibly to keep up with the larger market of competitors. As of August 1, a Volkswagen T2 Camper Van will therefore be available for purchase.
Since the T2 caused a boom in the camping market in the 1960s and 70s, it remains a popular classic to this day. Lego now sets this model a terminal block model memorial including functioning steering and folding roof. The Danish toy designers even recreated the sliding side door in working order. Inside, a kitchenette with opening cabinets and folding table is hidden in front of the rear seat. A total of 2,207 individual parts are put together until you have a pretty good copy of the Volkswagen T2 in your hands. From August 1, this Lego Creator model will be available online and in Lego stores for € 159.99, US$ 179.99 and GBP 149.99.
