Lego DeLorean Back to the Future

“Back to the Future” – this science fiction film trilogy around Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown hit the cinemas between 1985 and 1990. Nevertheless, it is still successful today and has many fans worldwide. Apart from the main actors, the recurring appearance of a special time machine is probably responsible for this. It is based on a DeLorean DMC12 and made this coupé with gullwing doors legendary. Production of this vehicle with its characteristic polished stainless steel body had already been discontinued in 1982. Its angular shape, however, is ideally suited for recreating it with clamp bricks. This is exactly what Lego has now done with a new set in rough 1:18 scale, including enough parts to adapt it to each of the three “Back to the Future” films. Unfortunately, you have to buy the set three times to put the versions side by side.

Like the original, the gullwing doors and the boot lid can be opened. The V6 engine of the DeLorean is hardly visible due to the modifications at the rear that were copied from the movie car. In the films, a small nuclear reactor with 1.21 gigawatts provided the propulsion. This is also indicated on the model, as are the numerous buttons and switches in the interior. In the boot there is a box with plutonium and Marty McFly’s hoverboard. The set consists of 1,872 individual parts in total. It will be released on 1 April and costs € 169.99, US$ 169.99 or £ 149.99.
