Facel Vega – Grand Tourisme

France has had some great carmakers. However, apart from Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Alpine and Bugatti, none of them exist anymore. This is particularly unfortunate in the case of luxury manufacturers such as Delage, Delahaye and Facel Vega. The latter was based on the ideas of Jean Daninos and existed between 1939 and 1954. In a book worth seeing and reading, the Amicale Facel Vega, a brand club, deals with the exact background history from beginning to end. Thanks to the well-filled club archives, it was possible to include many documents and pictures that haven’t been published anywhere before. In this way, not only has the history of brand been thoroughly reappraised, but also the background of all the important protagonists – especially that of Jean Daninos.

The book itself was launched back in 2016 and reaches the reader in a jewelry slipcase. On a total of 576 pages, there is the historical outline, the stories of the different car models of Facel Vega and towards the end technical data of all vehicles ever built. One year after publication, the book received the ‘AutoBild Buchpreis präsentiert von MotorWorld’ (AutoBild Book Reward presented by MotorWorld). If you would like to add this German book to your bookshelf, you can order ‘Facel Vega – Grand Tourisme’ under ISBN 978-3-95843-355-7 directly from Heel Verlag or from a well-stocked bookstore for 129 €.
