Drivers on Drivers
Interviews with racing drivers often hold surprises. At least when they are conducted away from the stress of racing in their free time and questions aren’t just asked about their latest fastest lap. Philip Porter and some of his colleagues have mastered the fine art of interviewing and have often demonstrated this in past years in British publications. With the book “Drivers on Drivers” they put together some of the best passages of their activity in a great presentation. Not only world champions have their say, but also drivers who would have more than earned a title and those who are regarded as up-and-coming young talents. As the book title suggests, the interviews are primarily about their respective lives with teammates and competitors.

Gerhard Berger, for example, talks about the connection between frogs in Australia and his former McLaren colleague Ayrton Senna. Jackie Stewart reveals who his favorite teammate was and George Russell talks about the biggest disappointment of his still young career so far. From the sports car scene, Allan McNish, Brian Redman, Derek Warwick, Derek Bell and Emanuelle Pirro have their say. Other big names include Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Lewis Hamilton and Mika Häkkinen. The book “Drivers on Drivers” is published by Porter Press International under ISBN 978-1-913089-41-2 and costs £ 30 plus shipping. All proceeds go to the cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow, which cares for cancer patients.
