BlueBrix Formula Race Car 1979

As the fifth car from the Formula 1 series in roughly the scale of 1:18 BlueBrixx puts a monoposto from 1979 to the market. The historic prototype in the colors white, yellow and black came from France. Two years earlier, the corresponding factory racing team had begun to bring the then relatively new turbo technology into the premier class of motorsports. The team was the only one to use a 1.5-liter V6 engine, while normally V8s with a displacement of three liters were common at the time. Ferrari and Alfa Romeo of course used the typical twelve-cylinder units. After the best result in the first two years was only a fourth place, the team entered two cars per race for the first time in 1979. Technical teething troubles had been overcome, and at the home race in France, they not only took pole position in qualifying but also scored the first victory for an F1 car with a turbocharged engine.

This was followed by a second place in Great Britain. In addition, the race car again achieved pole position in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Italy. At the end of the season in the USA, one of the two turbo racers again finished in second place. BlueBrixx is now putting the model together from 634 individual parts. The 1979 Formula Racing Car (*) costs € 33.95 plus shipping, and the assembly instructions with 119 steps can be downloaded free of charge as a PDF. In addition, BlueBrixx offers a sticker sheet at a price of € 3.95 to bring the model even closer to the original.
