Aston Martin DBX707

Aston Martin presents the DBX707, the most powerful production SUV in the world. This new model variant represents the spearhead in the DBX program. Compared to the already known vehicle, it remains with the four-liter V8 biturbo engine from Mercedes-AMG. However, the engineers increased the output by 157 horsepower and 200 Newton meters. As a result, the data sheet now lists 520 kW/707 hp and a full 900 Nm of torque. Also new is a nine-speed automatic transmission with wet clutch. Compared to an automatic with torque converter, this transmission enables faster gear changes. This is also expressed in the acceleration times. From zero to 62 mph taked 3.3 seconds, and to 99 mph it’s 7.4 seconds. Aston Martin specifies 192 mph as the topspeed. The kerb weight is 2,245 kilograms. A carbon-ceramic brake system ensures excellent deceleration values.

Modifications to chassis and steering

A new version of the electronic limited-slip differential with the final ratio shortened from 3.07 to 3.27 allows up to 100 percent of the power to be transferred to the rear axle if necessary. Thanks to the standard air suspension, the car offers the best possible comfort and contact with the asphalt in all driving situations. New valve controls are fitted to the dampers and the springs have been retuned. The engineers also retuned the electronic power steering to give the driver an even better and more direct steering feel. The dynamic modes, which can be adjusted from the cockpit, also reveal modifications. In the “GT Sport” and “Sport+” modes, for example, the car can perform a race start using launch control. The switches for this can be found on a newly designed console on the center tunnel. This means that the modes no longer have to be searched for in submenus of the infotainment system.

New body details

Sitting in the wheel arches of the DBX707 are 22-inch alloy wheels. These are available in two designs, “Sport” or “Ribbon”. There is also an optional 23-inch wheel set. Up front, the entire bumper features a new design with a larger grille with matte chrome double fins. The cooling air intakes for the brakes and the spoiler lip are also larger than before. The splitter and side sills wear gloss black. Dark matte chrome adorns the side windows. All doors feature soft close for the first time. At the rear, a new roof edge spoiler and a larger diffuser give the car more downforce. The latter also incorporates the four round tailpipes of the new exhaust system. They emit a much more sonorous soundtrack than the previous DBX. New air outlets are integrated into the rear bumper below the taillights.

Three seat cover variants

In the front, the driver and co-driver sit in sports seats ex works. Alternatively, the already familiar comfort seats are available at no extra charge. Both variants have 16-way power adjustment and are heated, as is the rear seat. In addition to a combination of leather and Alcantara, only leather or only semi-aniline leather is also available for the seat covers. The latter comes with a contrasting stripe along the seat base and backrest, as well as brand logos embroidered into the headrests. All switchgear wear dark chrome. Alternatively, bright chrome and carbon are available. Likewise, carbon or a bronze metal mesh can be ordered in place of black piano lacquer on the trim. Further options are available from the Q by Aston Martin customization department. The first deliveries will take place as early as the second quarter of 2022.
