The Kulm marks the beginning of a chapter in the history of winter sports. In 1864, hotelier Johannes Badrutt bet his English summer guests that they would also enjoy St. Moritz in winter – a bet that is regarded as the birth of Alpine winter tourism. Suvretta House
Just above St. Moritz, surrounded by woodland and mountains, the Suvretta House stands as a little haven of its own. Since it opened in 1912, this grand hotel has been one of the leading names in the Engadin hotel industry and has retained its classic character. The hotel’s location is particularly advantageous in winter: its own ski lift leads directly into the Corviglia ski area, whilst guests can return to the tranquillity of the hotel after a day’s skiing. Grace La Margna
The GRACE LA MARGNA brings a younger, contemporary feel to St. Moritz’s traditional hotel scene. The historic building, situated right next to the railway station, has been given a fresh new look, combining elements of the Belle Époque with a modern interior. Rather than the classic grandeur of a grand hotel, the establishment focuses on clean lines, warm materials and a relaxed atmosphere. It also features a spa, restaurants and bars, as well as being just a short walk from the centre. A hotel for anyone who appreciates St. Moritz but doesn’t necessarily want to stay in a place steeped in its past.
