From July 22 to July 27, around 200 vehicles will gather for the Concours of Elegance at Gut Kaltenbrunn on Lake Tegernsee, a place known for its picturesque beauty, luxurious five-star hotels and first-class gastronomy. Situated in the middle of the Bavarian Alps, an RM Sothebys auction will also take place as part of the Concours. Reason enough to take a closer look at the vehicles that will be going under the hammer that weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start with one of our absolute favorites – the Ferrari 275 GTB \/6C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The year is 1966, the year in which John Lennon says that the Beatles are now \u201cmore popular than Jesus\u201d, TSV 1860 Munich becomes German soccer champions and Udo J\u00fcrgens wins the Eurovision Song Contest for Austria. At the same time, a Ferrari with chassis number 08577 rolls off the production line in Modena in the elegant color Amaranto, complemented by a beige interior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This very Ferrari, whose journey began on June 23, 1966, is now being auctioned off at the Tegernsee auction. The vehicle was sold to its first owner Freddy Damman, who kept it until 1968. The Italian then spent around 20 years in the USA, where the vehicle was painted in metallic brown, before returning to Europe to Ralf Ludwig’s collection in Switzerland. Towards the end of the century, the 275 GTB ended up in the possession of a Belgian collector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-awaited homecoming:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The previous owner sent the Ferrari to the renowned restoration workshop Bacchelli & Villa in Italy. In its home country, the car was then stripped down to the bare metal and painted in its original Amaranto color. Meanwhile, the engine was overhauled at Autofficina Sauro. After the work was completed, the 275 GTB was certified by Ferrari Classiche, which awarded it a Certificato di Autenticit\u00e0 on November 16, 2005. According to the attached \u201cRed Book\u201d, chassis 08577 retains its original engine and transaxle. Ferrari Classiche carried out a re-inspection in May 2024 and a revised \u201cRed Book\u201d will follow after the auction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past two decades, this 275 GTB has been loved and carefully cared for by its owner. It took part in both Ferrari’s 60th and 70th anniversary celebrations in Maranello in 2007 and 2017, winning the \u201cBest in Class\u201d award in each case. The Ferrari was also represented at the Salvarola Terme Concours d’Elegance in 2007. At the Cavallino Classic in Modena at the beginning of this year, chassis 08577 won the Platinum Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ferrari is offered with a restoration folder and a report by Ferrari expert Marcel Massini. According to the invoices in the archive, the owner had extensive engine work carried out by Sauro in November 2015. Today, the car presents itself as an impressive testimony to the high quality of its restoration carried out almost 20 years ago. This Ferrari 275 GTB\/6C from 1966 is highly suitable for prestigious events such as the Ferrari Cavalcade Classiche, Rallye des L\u00e9gendes, Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach and Abu Dhabi as well as the Modena Cento Ore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 27, 2024, this 275 GTB will now be auctioned off at the Tegernsee Auction as part of the Concours of Elegance. The expected price for the Italian is likely to be between \u20ac2,500,000 and \u20ac3,000,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
